Mental Health Treatment Plans & Medicare Rebates
Individuals who have a mental health concern may be eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP). This will enable them to access 10 sessions under this scheme each calendar year. To access a MHTP, you must see your GP and obtain a referral.
If you have a current plan in place, you are eligible for Medicare Rebates. There may be out of pocket (gap) fees for seeing a psychologist. Please check to see what these fees may involve. Health Care Card holders and Pensioners may be eligible to be bulk billed.
During the course of therapy, you will need to re-visit your GP to obtain a review referral. Appointments will not be booked until you have obtained the review referral. If you attend a session without a referral in place, you will need to pay for the session in full.
*Hypnosis and couples therapy is not covered under the MHTP. Please check to see the fees involved.
